Aarhus School of Architecture AAA
The Aarhus School of Architecture was founded in 1965 as an institution of higher education under the Danish Ministry of Culture. The school has approx. 190 employees and approx. 800 students, of these approx. 175 international students.
The object of the Aarhus School of Architecture is to educate architects and promote development and research in architecture in an artistic manner and on a scientific basis to the highest level possible. The architectural education aims to qualify students for work in the architectural profession.
The officially stipulated time of study of the education at the Aarhus School of Architecture is five years: a three-year Bachelor education and a two-year Master education. The problem-oriented project work is the central element in the education and reflects the praxis- and action-oriented character of the profession.
Through exercises and assignments the students will develop their abilities to read and analyze, to acquaint themselves with and put a problem area into perspective, and to prioritize, make choices and sum up a ’solution’. Furthermore, the students will have their abilities for cooperation tested and participate in innovative and possibly interdisciplinary cooperation projects.
The mission of Danmarks Designskole is to ensure the international position of Danish design, further the competitive ability of Danish business, and actively contribute to the establishment of international standards for design programmes and design research.
Our objective is to create strong professional environments in which the School unites craft traditions with academic methods. In our teaching and research, in our workshops, and in our wide networks, we focus on combining research and artistic practice in an active and goal-directed study course that forges partnerships with the business community whilst at the same time providing an understanding for the societal perspectives of the profession.
Founded in 1754 the School of Architecture at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts is one of the world’s oldest schools of architecture thus representing 250 years of unbroken Danish tradition in the education of architects. The strength of the School’s tradition of educating architects lies in its ability to unite a broad knowledge base with systemic artistic development and practise.
The School educates architects in the fields of architectural design and restoration, urban and landscape planning, and industrial, graphic, and furniture design. The tuition takes place within 9 departments providing instruction on all levels, while the research is organized within 4 institutes.
Designskolen Kolding is a progressive and internationally oriented design school with a long tradition for educating designers who are driven by the belief that the input designers are able to have in improving our world is best served by being able to communicate across the notional borders of subject areas in order to find creative, well considered and ethical solutions that act for the good of users, companies, the environment and society as a whole.
Designskolen Kolding educates designers in the areas of: Industrial Design Interactive Media Fashion Textiles Graphic Design and Illustration
We educate professional designers to engage design tasks from holistic, creative and innovative perspectives and to work with the responsibilities entailed, as regards both social and cultural demands. These designers are educated to resolve complex tasks on both an individual level, in cross disciplinary teams and in close collaboration with industry and other educational institutions.
The Glass and Ceramic School on Bornholm
The Glass and Ceramic School on Bornholm offers a three-year advanced education under the Ministry of Culture that qualifies artist craftsmen in the field of glass or ceramics.
The education shall provide students with a thorough knowledge of craft techniques and materials and qualify students to design and develop glass or ceramics to a high artistic standard. In close collaboration with Danmarks Designskole we unite craft traditions with academic methods. Through personal identification with the crafts specific materials, techniques and forms coupled with theoretical studies, the students shall acquire the technical, aesthetic and analytical qualifications that are essential for carrying out assignments in the field of glass or ceramics.
