Teacher Mobility

Mobility has been the core activity of the network from the beginning. It has been very successful in creating an understanding between students, administration and teachers in the institutions. Mobility will continue in the coming years, especially now, with the expansion of the network to the Baltic countries. At the same time has traditional mobility become less important in the last years because travel costs are much less than in the early years. Cirrus wants to create opportunities for meetings in shorter periods like express mobility of students in common courses (especially on master level) and by increasing the opportunities of meeting points for teachers and students together.

Teachers that plan exchange visits to other member institutes should fill the application form and return to the international coordinator in their institute.

The Nordplus program handbook says about teacher mobility:

Teachers of any nationality employed at HEIs in the participating countries may be awarded a Nordplus grant for exchanges in another Nordic or Baltic country. The stay should be linked to specific and integrated teaching activities with clear links to the partnership agreement between the parties. This includes tutoring and the development of teaching materials. Stays should last a minimum of one week (five working days) or eight teaching hours.

The following rules also apply to Nordplus teacher mobility grants:

  • confirmation of grant award shall be signed before payment is made.
  • a final report on the exchange shall be submitted by the teacher after the exchange has been completed.

Teachers in the member institutes should contact the network coordinator in their school for assistance in applying for travel. Program leaders in all institutes can also contact the network coordinators about looking out for travel grants to specific courses in guest institutions.
