The Nordplus Program promotes the idea that partners in networks run Intensive courses, that are open to partners from other institutes in the area. The text from Nordplus says:

Nordplus Higher Education awards grants to intensive courses lasting between one week (five working days) and one month. Courses may take place during term time or in the summer by way of short courses, symposiums, master classes or workshops. Intensive courses must include students and teachers from at least three different countries. The courses must give study credits and be recognised as part of the students’ degree. The same course are eligible for grants for up to three years. However, a new application must be submitted every year in order to receive continued funding.

Research students may act as teachers on intensive courses. They are not eligible for a grant if they are students on the course.

Institutes create, plan and apply individually for running Intensive Courses and the applications are coordinated and included in the total application once a year.

PROPOSED INTENSIVE COURSES

Workshops that have been proposed for the period 2009 – 2010 are the following, but response about funding for them arrives late summer 2009:

RAFLOST FOR DESIGNERS

An Electronic Art Workshop in Reykjavik, Iceland in May 2009.

The course will consist of collaboration of students of all art forms, music, visual art, dance etc. using electricity or electronic equipment at any stage in their artistic creation.Participants should be students with some experience of using new media tools and interest in multi-diciplinary way of working.

DIGITAL SOUNDINGS

Digital sound workshop in Copenhagen.

The course will give students understanding of skills demanded for sound design for games, interactive user-interfaces and interactive spatial installations. The course is directed to students studying digital sound design, game design and interactive interface design.

GRAPHIC DESIGN WORKSHOP, NUUK GREENLAND

Since the Cirrus Network should represent the whole Nordic-Baltic region it is its resposibility to create links to those that still are on the edges. There is a school of graphic design/illustration in Nuuk, and it is important to support that activity. The aim of the workshop is to invite students in graphic design from the schools in the network to a workshop in Nuuk to interact and stimulate that school in its first steps.
